Planet Dinosaur is a documentary television series created by Nigel Paterson and Phil Dobree, produced by the BBC and Jellyfish Pictures, and narrated by John Hunt. The first episode, Lost World, aired on BBC One on 14 September 2011. It is the network's first major dinosaur documentary since Walking with Dinosaurs. The series features well over fifty different dinosaur species and the scenery is completely CGI. The plots of each episode mainly consist of recent scientific discoveries.

Summary

Based on the latest paleontological discoveries from all continents, Planet Dinosaur tells the stories of the biggest, deadliest and weirdest creatures ever to walk the Earth. With veteran actor John Hurt narrating each episode, the gory, bleak, and brutal relationship between ancient apex predators and their gigantic herbivorous prey are brought to life using immersive computer graphics.

		This episode focuses on the new giants, the heavyweights of the dinosaur world. It's only in recent years that we've unearthed the biggest dinosaurs that ever lived. One monster eclipsing all others was the immense Argentinosaurus - a single backbone was bigger than a human. For years these giants were considered immune to attack from any predator until the discovery of Mapusaurus.

		This final episode explores the dinosaurs' extraordinary ability to survive. From the Magyarsaurus, which showed an amazing adaptation to island life, to the Nothronychus, a carnivore that gave up meat eating.
